Using the Device Comparison Page

Modified on Wed, 9 Jul at 8:18 AM

The Device Comparison page is a powerful tool that allows you to analyse and compare specific sensor data across multiple devices in your fleet simultaneously. This is perfect for identifying performance trends, diagnosing widespread issues, or benchmarking similar assets against each other.

This guide explains how to use this feature to gain deeper insights into your operations.

1. Accessing the Device Comparison Page

You can find the Device Comparison page in the main navigation menu on the left side of your screen.

When you first open the page, you will see a list of your devices on the left and a blank area prompting you to make your selections.

2. Step 1: Select the Devices to Compare

In the "Devices" panel on the left, choose the assets you want to analyse.

  • Filtering: At the top of the panel, you can filter your device list by Site or by Device Type (e.g., IY-LITE, IY-HUB2) to quickly find the assets you're looking for.

  • Searching: Use the search bar to find a specific device by name.

  • Selecting: Click the checkbox next to each device you wish to include in your comparison.

As you select devices, the "Sensors" panel below will populate with all the common sensors that these devices share.

3. Step 2: Select the Sensor to Analyse

Once you have selected your devices, move to the "Sensors" panel directly below the device list.

  • This panel now shows a list of all available data points (sensors) that your chosen devices have in common.

  • Search for a specific sensor with the search bar and the list of sensors will filter.

  • Click the checkbox next to the sensor you want to compare. For example, to compare battery health, you might select "State of Charge".

As soon as you select a sensor, the "Comparison Results" will appear in the main area of the page.

4. Step 3: Analyse the Comparison Results

The results page is broken down into two key sections:

A. The Comparison Chart

This interactive line graph plots the selected sensor's data over time for each device you chose.

  • Data Lines: Each coloured line represents a different device, allowing you to visually track and compare their performance.

  • Time Range: Use the buttons at the top right of the chart to change the time frame of the comparison (e.g., 24H, 7D, 14D, 30D, 90D).

  • Chart/List Toggle: You can switch between the visual line chart view, a bar chart or an area chart view.

B. The Sensor Analysis Overview

Below the chart, this table provides a detailed statistical summary for each device's performance regarding the selected sensor.

  • Latest: Shows the most recent reading received from the device.

  • Average: Displays the average value for the sensor over the selected time period.

  • Trend: Indicates whether the sensor's value is trending up, down, or remaining stable.

5. Exporting Your Data

If you need to use this comparison data for reports or further analysis, you can easily export it.

  • Click the [Export] button in the top right corner of the "Comparison Results" area to download the data.

  • You can Export the data as a PNG, CSV, or PDF file.
