The Insytly platform automatically generates notifications when a sensor reading breaches a threshold you have set. The Notifications page for each device provides a powerful, centralised view to review, analyse, and manage all historical alerts for that specific asset.

This guide explains how to use this page to investigate issues and acknowledge alerts.

1. Accessing the Notifications Page

  1. From the Mission Control page, click on the device you wish to investigate to go to its detailed dashboard.

  2. In the device-specific menu on the left, click on Notifications (represented by the bell icon).

2. Filtering and Finding Specific Notifications

When you open the page, you will see a list of all "Open" (active) notifications. You can use the tools at the top of the list to find specific events:

  • Search Bar: Use the search bar to find alerts by name (e.g., "Battery Voltage").

  • Filter by Type: Use the dropdown list to filter by the alert category, such as:

    • Lower Fault

    • Upper Fault

    • Upper Warning

    • Lower Warning

    • Impact

    • Geofence

  • Filter by Date: Click the "Select Date" button to open a calendar where you can choose a custom date range or select from predefined periods like "Last 24 Hours" or "Last 7 Days".

3. Analysing a Notification

The page is divided into two main sections to help you quickly understand the context of an alert.

A. The Notification List (Left Panel)

This panel displays a chronological list of all notifications that match your current filters. Each entry includes the alert type and the exact time it was triggered.

B. The Data Graph (Right Panel)

When you click on a specific notification in the list, the graph on the right provides crucial context. It plots the data from the sensor that triggered the alert over time, allowing you to see:

  • Trigger Points: The graph will display markers indicating the exact point(s) in time the threshold was breached.

  • Trigger Threshold: Details will show the value that was set to trigger the alert.

  • Delay Set: This indicates how many times the condition needed to be met before the notification was sent. For instance, if the delay is set to 2, the alert is sent only after the condition has been triggered and registered twice. This helps prevent alerts from momentary, insignificant fluctuations.

4. How to Manage and Archive Notifications

Once you have investigated an alert and addressed the issue, you can "Archive" it. Archiving a notification serves as an acknowledgement that you have seen and dealt with it.

  • Why Archive? Archiving removes a notification from the "Open Notifications" list and, importantly, clears the corresponding red alert indicator for that device on your Mission Control page. This helps you maintain a clean overview and ensures that the main dashboard only shows current, unacknowledged issues.

To archive a notification:

  1. Select the notification you wish to archive from the list on the left.

  2. Review the data in the graph to understand the event.

  3. Click the [Archive] button in the top right corner of the page.

The notification will then be moved from the "Open Notifications" view to a historical archive, which you can access if needed for future reference.

Notifications are triggered by your device dashboards graph components. Notifications for a component can be turned on or off when editing a component in the device under the "Colour Thresholds" tab in the component settings.
